Dole and Del Monte pineapple plantations are on the fertile plains, just off highway 99, near the Schofield army barracks. Dole has a visitor center with lots of ways to separate you from your dollars. It's still a good stop. Be sure and try their pineapple smoothies and some of the other palate-delighting concoctions. They also have an interesting maze in the shape of a pineapple.
A little further south, Del Monte has a garden of pineaples where you can see pineapples growing and learn a little about this South American native. That's right, the pineapple originated in Paraguay. There it's a lot thornier, smaller and (I have it on fairly good authority) very tart.
